The basic concept of an Amazing Race is kinda like a scavenger hunt on steroids, but even better: your group will be split into smaller teams of 3 or more people and be tasked with making their way to the final destination via a route of cryptic clues and checkpoint challenges. At the same time teams will attempt to earn bonus points and avoid being sabotaged by a rival team! This is a jam-packed game with all the twists, turns, and “omg-I-can’t-believe-we-have-to-do-that” moments you could hope for.
All of the ins and outs are explained by one of our awesome professional actors at the start of your game. Then they’ll get you into your teams (you can decide who goes with who or leave it to your host to randomly divvy up). Each team will need to use their map and decipher cryptic clues to locate checkpoints where you’ll be faced with a challenge. These require a variety of skills, public persuasion, Macgyver-ness, and in some cases: a little bit of courage. Get ready for eating competitions, construction challenges, creative photo bonuses and sabotage missions, all while trying not to get lost along the way!
Teams get to choose-their-own-adventure and plan their route based on their game-play strategy. The distance covered is totally “doable” for all ages and fitness levels, and can be taken at whatever pace is comfortable for each team. In fact, the winners are not determined by just crossing the finish line first: bonus points you accrue throughout the game will earn you a faster time, meaning you could bring your Nan and she could totally end up on the winning team (and she’d never let you forget it!).
This also makes for a suspenseful Closing Ceremony with each team trying to gauge where they are placed on the leaderboard! Our hosts reveal the scores one by one in a nail-biting awards ceremony, finally announcing the winning team and awarding them with their well-earned medals. Whether your team is cheering or commiserating, friends who didn’t really know each other are suddenly besties, forever bonded by having to eat that T*$%@($)#*$). Eat what, you ask?
