How Play in a Day works

Play In A Day gives teams the challenge of working with our professional Actors and Directors to produce a short play in a day..! well less than a day… 2-4 hours… but ‘Play In A 2-4 Hours’ didn’t quite have the same ring to it. The event starts with some fun warm up impro games that get the mind working and get everyone laughing; they are as fun for participants and audience members alike! These include: Space Jump, Whose Line Is It Anyway: What Prop is This?, and Partner Puppets.

We talk through the importance of being open to offers and following your impulses, and the negative outcome of someone blocking your idea on stage and going with their own agenda. It’s all about listening, communicating, and working together as a cohesive unit in a really fun and lighthearted way where no one can fail!

We then move on to the concepts of story building starting with devising and performing 5min versions of popular fairy tales. Teams have to work quickly and cohesively, and identify the essential elements to the story that must be included. These are performed in front of the entire group and then our actors and directors give tips and feedback that you take into your final task: create a play from scratch! Using props, costumes, and craft supplies, you’ll devise a 5-10min creative story or skit that can be based around a prop, genre, company value, or conference theme. Teams will have the aid of our professional actors to assist you in the creative process, and you’ll also be encouraged to work autonomously and embrace the individual talents within your team.

We then regroup to watch each teams’ performance and the entertainment begins! With in-jokes, celebrity impersonations, and classic one-liners, there’s so many hilarious moments. To finish the game on an awesome high we award medals for standout & breakthrough performances! Play In A Day offers something totally different and rewarding, and is perfect for connecting teams.

Why brands, teams, friends, and family can’t get enough of Great Race!

Just wanted to personally thank you for the session you and your team provided at the U@UNSW conference. It really met all our boxes and aligned with my debrief. Its especially refreshing to partner with an organisation who just get it without the need for micro-management. So… THANK YOU. I look forward to working with you guys again in the future.

Please extend my thanks to Josh and Brett and the crew that ran our excursion last week. It was a great day and everyone who participated, students and teachers continue to rave it was great fun! Accessible, comprehensive, well times and professionally ran. Words can not really do justice to how great it was. Given our rapture with the program we will be making this an annual event.

I would love to convey how fantastic the day was, Brett and staff provided perfect activities/challenges and a level of energy which started the day with a bang. We took with us to Southbank 150 students with very cynical attitudes and what the experience helped generate is a mountain of new friendships, faith and trust in each other and a spirit of confidence and social cohesion I have been trying to achieve all year.

I organised the amazing race for a Hens party and what a blast it was! The challenges were fun, cheeky and exciting and bought out the competitive side in all of us. The memories we made that afternoon will never be forgotten. Our host on the day Antony was awesome. From the time of enquiry to the day of the event, Vanessa, was friendly, patient and very professional and made sure it all ran smoothly. Thank you! I would highly recommend this company if you’re looking for a fun activity for any event!

The Great Race hosted a double hen’s party for my friends (in Sydney). It was beyond amazing. Organising the race was so easy and they really listened to all of my requests – making the event Bride vs Bride with larger groups, taking into the girls’ competitive nature and emphasising the little ways to cheat. The day itself was fantastic. It was lightly raining but ponchos were provided. Everyone was set up for a day of fun by our host, Skylar. He did a fantastic job of making everyone welcome and setting the mood. My team lost by only a few points and I can really say that this didn’t dampen the mood at all. What an adventure 🙂 🙂 Thank you so so much for everything. The brides and all the hens guests had so much fun!

We did a Great Race as part of a hen’s night and it was a terrific day. Completely exceeded my expectations!! Very well organised and a lot of planning had been done to make it a fun interactive day. We all had such a great time. I definitely recommend. Our host Gabe was hilarious, full of energy and make sure we had smiles on our faces all day. Thanks Gabe and the Great Race team! Top day!!
